Barneys first started trading back in 1991, we began by manufacturing baseplates for the scaffold industry. In the first year we manufactured 500,000 baseplates – all welded by hand. These days we sell over 2 million baseplates every year. Each one is now manufactured using fully automated machinery.

Since we began trading, we’ve delivered a staggering 12 million baseplates to the scaffolding industry and increased our portfolio to include a huge range of products. In fact, our sales director David (Barney) Barnwell, is so well known for selling baseplates that his nickname throughout the trade is ‘Barney the Baseplate’. The name became so popular that we named the scaffolding division after him

We are also one of the country’s primary manufacturers of galvanised ladder beams and unit beams and our product list continues to grow.

Our connections with China…

As our many clients will attest, the quality of our products is excellent. Most of our items conform to British Standards or are currently in the approval stage and all our fittings are tested to EN74-Class A or B. We have manufacturing plants in China and can ship from China to the UK in a seamless and painless process, we can also ship to anywhere in the world direct from China.

We started buying from China almost 10 years ago and now have two factories set up over there to manufacture our own products and to provide a bespoke manufacturing service for our clients.

Bespoke Manufacturing Service…

After having been approached by so many companies who want us to look at the viability of their products being manufactured abroad, we have now formalised a ‘bespoke manufacturing’ service through our parent company, Infometal Ltd.
